UN1T Says No to Plastic!

Posted 8th Nov 2018

Every year, eight million tons of plastic end up in our oceans. And by 2025, we’re expecting that number to double. We’ve known for a while that plastics aren’t great for the environment, but now it’s more important than ever to do something about it.

The month of October saw UN1T take a stand against plastic. We’ve eliminated all plastic water bottles from our studios and offer a discount to members who bring in their own bottles for our exclusive smoothies.

We’re wrapping up our 10th challenge as part of our 12 challenges in 12 months, our stand against plastic doesn’t end here. We’ve found some simple, easy swaps that will help you reduce your own plastic footprint and make an incredible difference to our world.

UN1T’s top tips to reducing your plastic use:

  1. Bring a reusable sports bottle – sounds obvious, but this is one of the biggest culprits of single use plastic is plastic water bottles
  2. Bring a reusable cup for that smoothie! Not only does it mean your plastic-free but you get a £1 off too! Double win! It can be a KeepCup, frank green or a classic mug from your kitchen!
  3. Bring your own reusable, metal straw or just simply say no!
  4. Try to buy veggies loose instead of in plastic packaging
  5. Carry your own metal cutlery
  6. Use a reusable cup for your coffee
  7. Bring a reusable tote bag when you hit the shops
  8. Make sure your meal prep is on point, so you don’t make unnecessary purchases which will no doubt be wrapped in plastic
  9. Try using a veg box subscription to get seasonal veg without the plastic
  10. Invest in a reusable kit bag

If we all start saying no to plastic and using these simple swaps, together, we will make a huge impact. Remember, be part of the solution not the problem!
