This week’s meet team UN1T is with Lucie Morgan. The latest trainer to join the crew, Lucie left the 9 to 5, trained as a personal trainer and is now bringing her infectious energy and positive vibes to the studio floor. We sat down with Lucie to find out more about how she got started in the fitness industry, her favourite UN1T class and what she loves about UN1T.
First off, welcome to UN1T! We’re so excited you’ve joined us. So, how did you get started in a career in the fitness industry and as a personal trainer?
Lucie: I moved to London four years ago and my friend dragged me to the gym. We started going to lunch time classes two to three times a week, and in one class, we were told to do a push up – I couldn’t do it. The instructor told me to try it on my knees, but I still couldn’t do it. I was embarrassed, and so I went home and practiced a push up every day. Within one month, I mastered 10 push ups on my feet. It was at this moment I realised that if you put in the work, you can actually achieve results. Over the next three months, I went to the gym a lot and my fitness and strength really improved, and I actually became the fittest in the class! At this point the gym manager had seen my progress and suggested I complete a PT course…and I’ve never looked back.
What are your qualifications?
Lucie: I’m a Reps Level 2 fitness instructor, Reps Level 3 personal trainer, qualified spin instructor, qualified kettlebell instructor and a Level 1&2 callisthenics instructor.
What made you join UN1T?
Lucie: I had heard great things from one of my friends who was a member, and was really keen to try it. At my first class I got a deadlift PB and I was hooked. I loved the layout, the members and of course the coaches and staff. I was later asked to audition for a coach role.
It’s hard to choose, but what’s your favourite UN1T class?
Lucie: It has to be SQUAD!
What do you love about UN1T team/members?
Lucie: I love the team spirit in the studio. everyone is so kind and helpful and so STRONG which is so motivating.
Keeping fit and healthy everyday can sometimes be a challenge. What keeps you motivated?
Lucie: I agree – sometimes it’s hard to stay motivated 24/7 but it’s so satisfying helping people to achieve their goals, which keeps you going and reminds you of why you got in to personal training in the first place.
If you’re not coaching a UN1T class, where would we find you?
Lucie: Still coaching! Either at Google in TCR, Victoria and Kings Cross, or personal training in Southwark and coaching at Peckham.
What are your hobbies outside of fitness/training?
Lucie: The usual! I like to keep active and see my friends and family.
What’s one item on your bucket list?
Lucie: To travel the world!
And last question – what’s your go to pre and post workout meal?
Lucie: Loaded protein oats with lots of toppings! Almond butter, berries and dark choc.
