Team UN1T Run Miles for Refugees

Posted 12th Sep 2019

In 2018, 107,000 people fled to Europe by sea, and around the world, more people have been forced to flee their homes than any times since World War Two.

This September, UN1T is joining #TeamRedCross and hitting the pavement, taking part in Miles for Refugees. Over the course of the month, we will be clocking up miles to raise money for the British Red Cross, supporting refugees in the UK. Our coaches will be hosting run clubs each week to achieve our goal of running 285 miles in September – the equivalent of running from Paris to London.

The British Red Cross provides refugee services to more than 30,000 people in 58 towns and cities across the UK. Since the crisis got worse in 2015, they have:

  • provided refugees with more than 1.6m food items and essential supplies
  • given cash grants for refugees to start small businesses such as farming, baking and handyman work
  • worked with partners to help keep children safe
  • provided clean water and given important information to migrants
  • helped 15 Red Cross organisations learn to recognise and act on human trafficking

To ensure the British Red Cross can continue to help people who are forced to flee their homes and find safe and legal routes into new countries, we’re asking for your support. Your sponsorship will help support some of the most vulnerable people in the UK.

Donate here to sponsor our team, and for the extra challenge, sign up to one of our run clubs. Together, let’s raise vital funds and run 285 miles for refugees.
